Built in Pittsburgh
We automate the work.
Then we predict what's next.
Steel City Automations builds workflow automations and predictive analytics systems for small businesses across Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. We start with the manual work eating your team's hours — then we use your own data to tell you what to do next.
How many hours did your team spend on reports last month?
If you're not sure, that's the problem. We should talk.
Is your most important business data still in a spreadsheet someone maintains by hand?
One person leaving shouldn't take your reporting with them. We should talk.
Do you know which customers are about to stop buying from you?
Your data already knows. We just need to teach it to tell you. We should talk.
What We Do
The boring work that eats hours every week — done by software.
Replace spreadsheet chaos and manual reporting with systems that run without your team thinking about them. This is where most engagements start: a focused project, fixed fee, fast result.
- Excel and Google Sheets automation that eliminates manual monthly reporting
- Custom reporting pipelines from EHR, CRM, and point-of-sale exports
- Workflow automation that removes repetitive human steps from routine processes
- Internal dashboards built for your actual operational data
Track 1 — Fixed fee. Fast result. This is the door.
Your data tells you what happened. We make it tell you what to do next.
Once the manual work is automated and your data is clean, we build the ML pipelines and analytics systems that turn history into decisions — which customers to call, what to charge, where you're losing margin. Priced on results, not hours.
- Customer health scoring and churn prediction
- Revenue forecasting and margin analysis by product, customer, or location
- Predictive scheduling and resource allocation
- AI/ML pipelines built on your actual historical data — POS, CRM, EHR, spreadsheets
Track 2 — Priced on outcomes. This is the room.
How It Works
A partnership built on shared outcomes.
01
Low cost to start
We charge enough to cover the build and prove value. We don't make most of our money up front.
02
Deep access
We learn your business, your data, your operations. We build for what's actually true, not what a generic SaaS thinks is true.
03
Shared upside
We tie our compensation to measurable outcomes — revenue lifts, hours saved, contracts won, costs cut. When the business grows, we grow with it.
01
Discovery (in person)
We come to you. We sit down, see how the business actually runs, and identify where systems and data can move the needle.
02
Build
We design and build a focused first project — usually 4–8 weeks — to deliver a tangible win.
03
Embed
We integrate with your team, document everything, and make sure what we built keeps running without us.
04
Grow
We expand from there into the next problem, the next system, the next opportunity. Always with shared upside.

Excel reporting automation for a multi-location wellness clinic
Multi-location wellness clinic in Pittsburgh · Healthcare / Wellness
Problem
The clinic's operations lead was spending hours every month compiling an Excel report from their EHR — categorizing transactions, mapping schedule types to clinical minutes, and rolling up provider utilization for the owners. The work was repetitive, error-prone, and pulled time away from actually running the clinic.
Approach
Rather than push data to the cloud or build a SaaS platform, we built a lightweight tool that runs locally on a single office computer. It ingests the EHR's existing transaction export, applies categorization rules driven by the EHR's own type fields, and generates a clean monthly Excel report. No patient data ever leaves the office. No IT integration. No new login for staff.
Results
- Replaces hours of manual monthly reporting with a single run
- Zero patient data touches the cloud — runs entirely on a local machine
- Output is diff-tested against manual reports to verify accuracy
- Designed to extend to weekly cadence as the team is ready
Customer health scoring for a regional print shop
Regional commercial print shop · B2B Services / Manufacturing
Problem
A regional commercial print shop had eight years of order history across hundreds of business clients. Revenue was flat. The owner had no way to tell which customers were at risk of leaving, which ones had untapped spend potential, and which he should be calling this week.
Approach
We unified the shop's order data into a single customer-level view. We built a customer health score model that segments every active account into four tiers: growing, stable, at-risk, and churned. A lightweight dashboard — updated weekly — shows the owner exactly which accounts to prioritize and what to say to each one.
Results
- Owner can identify at-risk accounts 6–8 weeks before they stop ordering
- Top 20% of customers by health score drive 68% of revenue
- First 90 days: three at-risk accounts re-engaged through targeted outreach
This is an illustrative scenario showing how we approach this class of problem. We tailor the model and dashboard to your actual data and business.
